Description
Echeveria laui is a gorgeous succulents that forms a short-stemmed rosette of white or sometimes pinkish, strongly glaucous leaves. It is one of the most attractive Echeverias. The rosettes slowly grow to 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter, rarely producing offsets. The stem is up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall, up to 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) in diameter, and covered below with persistent dry leaves.
Flowers are red but also heavily covered in fine white powder and appear in arching clusters on up to 4 inches (10 cm) long stalks with 5 to 7 bracts in summer. The flower stalk, bracts, sepals, and flowers also have a thick, white, powdery coating.
How to grow Echeveria Laui
Most common Echeveria species are not difficult succulents to grow, as long as you follow a few ground rules. First, be careful never to let water sit in roses as it can cause rot or fungal disease that kills the plant. Also, remove dead leaves at the bottom of the plant as it grows. These dead leaves are a hiding place for pests and diseases, and Echeverias are susceptible to mealybugs. Water carefully and place the plant in a well-lit place.
How to care for Echeveria Laui
1. Choose the right pot:
Choose a pot slightly larger than the plant's root ball. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to avoid waterlogging. Place a layer of small rocks or gravel in the bottom of the pot. This will help improve drainage and prevent water from pooling around the roots.
2. Soil:
Use a well-draining succulent soil mix or create your own by mixing regular potting soil with perlite, coarse sand, or pumice. This soil will prevent waterlogging, which is important for succulents.
3. Light:
Echeveria laui prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Place the pot near a window with filtered sunlight or provide light with a grow light. Avoid direct sunlight because it can burn the leaves.
4. Temperature and Humidity:
Echeverias thrive in warm, dry environments. They prefer temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) during the day and slightly cooler temperatures at night.
5. Fertilization:
You can feed Echeveria laui with a diluted succulent fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) every 4-6 weeks. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer packaging for proper dilution.
6. Pruning and care:
Remove dead or wilted leaves regularly to maintain the plant's appearance. If your Echeveria laui becomes long over time, you can take cuttings and propagate new plants.
Now put these beautiful candy-like potted plants in your garden.
