The Secret to Colorful Succulents (Still green but much better)

Have you ever purchased beautiful, colorful succulents, only to have them turn mostly green in a short period of time? This post is for you! The short answer is stress. Stressed succulents frequently flush brilliant colors in response to more sunlight, less water or a change in temperature. However, I will not talk about succulents with vibrant colors such as red, purple, yellow, ... but will talk about green. I'll show you the succulent green plants that are absolutely gorgeous too

1. Crassula 'Pagoda Village'

Crassula capitella subsp. thyrsiflora 'Pagoda Village', also known as Crassula 'Pagoda Village', is a unique succulent that forms rosettes of fleshy leaves that change their color from green to red and purple. Flowers appear at the end of up to 10 inches (25 cm) long pagoda chains. They are tiny, white, and up to 0.25 inch (0.6 cm) in diameter. C. capitella subsp. thyrsiflora is a variable subspecies. Consequently, this cultivar is also variable.

2. Cotyledon tomentosa

Cotyledon Tomentosa, or also known as Bear’s paw, is one of the most adorable members in the succulents family. It has a peculiar thick, ovate fuzzy green leaves with prominent dark red toothed edges that resemble the claws of a bear and velvety coating, this little fella does an awesome job in adding beautiful contrast and unique texture to any space. 

Bear’s paw has a low, shrub-like growing habitat that can reach over 30cm in height and usually produce a large orange bell-shaped flowers during spring. Although Cotyledon tomentosa is fairly easy to take care of, their leaves are quite fragile. So knowing how you can properly take care of them is a must.

3. Echeveria setosa

Echeveria setosa is a succulent that is commonly called Mexican Firecracker. This succulent belongs to the Crassulaceae family. The rosette grows into a thick cluster of green leaves that have a thin layer of white hair. It can grow to a height of 3 inches and be 12 inches wide. In the spring, when it blooms, yellow and red flowers can be seen.

4. Greenovia

Greenovia is a succulent with typical names like “mountain rose.”
and remains in the household of Crassulaceae. Rose succulents are becoming popular among plant lovers. As their name suggests, these adorable little plants grow in the shape of a rose, and while they’re typically green, some can be discovered in a gorgeous dirty pink.

5. Sedum Atlantis

Sedum Atlantis is a pretty attractive plant, with a fascinating combination of colours.

Its green leaves are edged with yellow-tinged cream edges, and it also produces surprising pale pink flower buds, cherry red leaf buds and yellow flowers in summer. What a collection of colours!

Not only that, but the foliage retains its colour throughout summer and autumn, so you can appreciate its beauty for longer.

6. Monanthes polyphylla

Monanthes polyphylla (so named by Mr Haworth because it present but one flower at a time) is a charming tufted succulent, up to 12 cm tall, with tiny many-leaved rosettes, forming soft, shiny, dense clumps which in June bear numerous small purplish flowers like parasols. It was the first known of the genus Monanthes, and is still the most attractive in this genus.

7. Haworthia cooperi

Haworthia cooperi is the scientific name of diamond lotus, this is a rare variety of the succulent family. Plants are small in size, like newly budding flowers.
In terms of feng shui, cooperi stone lotus brings money and luck to the owner. The presence of this lovely plant also prevents bad luck and drives away bad omens
